generating thumbnails was created by MICHAEL LOMBARDO

Hi,
I'm running All Video Share on Joomla 6 with ffmpeg installed on my VPS. I'd like to enable auto thumbnail generation when self-hosted videos are uploaded rather than requiring a manually uploaded thumbnail each time.
Is this feature currently built into the extension? If so, where is it configured? If not, is there a recommended way to implement it — whether through a workaround, a custom modification, or a third-party plugin — given that ffmpeg is already available on the server?
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for your detailed question — and it’s great to hear you already have FFmpeg set up on your VPS ?

At the moment, All Video Share (Joomla) does not yet support automatic thumbnail generation using FFmpeg for self-hosted video uploads. Currently, thumbnails need to be uploaded manually.

That said, this is one of the most frequently requested features, and it’s already on our roadmap. We’re actively planning to include FFmpeg-based thumbnail generation in a future release. We really appreciate your patience while we work towards this.

Regarding alternatives:

At this time, we’re not aware of any reliable third-party Joomla extensions that integrate directly with All Video Share to achieve this. So the only practical workaround for now would be a custom development solution tailored to your setup.

If you’re interested in implementing this as a custom feature, we’d be happy to discuss it further. Please feel free to reach out to us via our contact page:  https://allvideoshare.mrvinoth.com/#contact-us
(Kindly include a link to this forum thread for reference.)

Please note that the forum isn’t the right place for handling custom development discussions, so continuing via the contact form would be the best way forward.
