GDPR consent was created by Alan Sillitoe

I have version 4.3.0 on Joomla 6. It seems that the GDPR consent for videos only lasts for the current session. Then, in a future session, consent will be requested again, even for the same video. Is  it possible for this consent to be persistent across sessions?

By default, the component stores the user’s consent in a browser cookie, so the consent prompt will not be shown again on subsequent visits.
However, it appears that this is not working correctly on your site. One possible reason is that a cookie management or privacy plugin installed on your Joomla site may be preventing our component from setting its cookie. This suggests a conflict specific to your Joomla environment.
Please contact us using the link below, and we will follow up with you via email to request the necessary admin and FTP access details for further investigation:

Hi,
Thank you for your rapid reply.
I have troubleshot the GDPR consent cookie issue and fount something that might be the root cause.
The cookie is being created with a SameSiteattribute of "" (empty).
Because of modern browser security standards (enforcing SameSite=Lax or Secure), the browser is perhaps ignoring/rejecting this cookie on page refresh.
Could you please update the component to explicitly set the cookie with SameSite=Lax; Secure?
This might resolve the persistence issue."
Another thing I remarked is that the cookie is only set to last for about 10 days.
Would it not be normal to have a longer duration?
Many thanks,
Alan

Thank you for your detailed findings.

We have tested the cookie consent feature on our end across multiple browsers, and it appears to be working correctly without any changes.

Regarding the cookie duration, our component sets the consent cookie (com_allvideoshare_gdpr) to expire after 7 days (604800 seconds). Since you mentioned a duration of 10 days, we would like to confirm whether the cookie you are seeing is indeed the same one created by our component, or possibly from another extension.

To help us verify this, could you please share the URL of the page where your gallery is displayed?

Additionally, we appreciate your observations about the SameSite attribute. To investigate this further and provide you with a patched version if required, kindly contact us using the link below. We will follow up with you via email:

Once we have the necessary details, we will review the issue more closely and share an appropriate fix.
